Pure Awesomeness

Lately I’ve been receiving a lot of awesome bits of Love from friends of mine on FB and twitter. I’m so grateful for these videos, photos, poems and songs that I wanted to share them here on the website. It might be overwhelming to see them all at once, but it’s a hodgepodge of things that I like. This is a small glimpse into the things that influence me, and a few of the things that my friends care enough about to share with us.

Thanks to my friend Bill Wimp, this song has been playing on repeat on my laptop for a couple weeks now. I think we started every day with this tune, and played it again at some point in the afternoon for more than a week.

I remembered a glimpse of this movie from a time in high school when I watched it with friends, and then came home and made my big brother watch it with me. When Rob found it for me on YouTube, we watched the entire movie start to finish and then watched it again with Shane over Christmas. This is just one beautiful moment of the film, but I recommend watching the entire thing.

Thanks to my friend Rob, I used to listen to this song all the time when I lived in Mississippi a few years ago, and it brings back a lot of great memories….

A friend of mine in England, Andrew, sent me this video about an awesome program in the UK that I’m convinced could be easily duplicated and expanded. It qualifies as pure awesomeness!

This is one of my favorite spoken word poems. Julia tweeted it a while ago and I’ve shown it to at least a dozen friends. I feel like my hearts going to burst every time I play it…

If I haven’t already played it for you in your living room, you must watch Julia’s own poem, My Name is Not Those People, read by Danny Glover. It speaks volumes about validation and triumph.

In our travels this week, we made a few amazing friends! The three of us take pictures as we go, and these are a few moments that we caught in Mississippi. If this isn’t Pure Awesomeness, I don’t know what is!
