Last year I received an email from a woman named Libby. She and her husband own a café in Denver called the SAME Café. The letters stand for So All May Eat, and if you check out their website, the premise is really cool.
I didn’t have time to stay for lunch, because I was on my way to pick up a massive quantity of socks for the drop in center down the street, but I shot this quick interview and (as you can see) I immediately fell in love with them and their concept.
Since my last visit, there are now 15 of these restaurants all over the country! They all belong to an organization out of Salt Lake City, and this month Brad and Libby made it into Success Magazine! Everyone is excited to see how this movement will redefine the way that we do community.
Shane and I stayed for lunch this year, and the organic pizza was amazing!
I think the more we pay attention, the more we will see social good organizations dominate a recession stricken economy. We really do get what we give, and we can do it so well that we can quit the day job. Anything is possible. As a child of the restaurant industry, I love everything about the SAME Cafe and can’t wait to see the concept pop up in every major city in America. What a beautiful concept! I wish we had more places like that around my area. I know so many hungry people that would benefit from this.

There is another cafe in Denver now — Comfort Cafe. I think it has closed for a bit, but should be reopening soon!
